FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you have more questions, feel free to ask!

WHAT STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY ARE YOU?

Modern photojournalistic. We aim for candid in the moment shots, and steer away from traditional poses. We love to use natural and available light, avoiding flash as much as possible, but we aren't afraid of shooting in dark venues.

IS ALL OF YOUR WORK ON YOUR WEBSITE?

No, we do lots of weddings and shoots, and choose to put up the ones that best represent our style.

WHO DOES WHAT?

We work as a team on everything, whether only photography, videography, or both is desired. Hannah is the main photographer, and Jack is the main videographer, but we are equally capable in both fields.

CAN WE GIVE YOU A SHOT-LIST TO WORK OFF OF?

We would be happy to work off of a shot list for family formal portraits only.  While we don’t mind entertaining any ideas that our clients may have found on the internet, this approach to wedding photography will limit our ability to document the wedding day in a candid, journalistic manner that reflects our style as genuinely as possible. It’s also super important to note that copying other people’s work is a huge no-no.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

We use full frame professional Canon cameras and fast Canon lenses. Jack also uses a professional grade recording device to capture the audio as clean as possible.

DO YOU GIVE RAW FOOTAGE?

For the following reasons, we do not offer raw video footage:

Raw footage looks bad. Jack films in what's called a flat or neutral picture profile, which allows him to attain better dynamic range in the exposures. However, it looks quite unflattering straight out of camera (desaturated colors, low contrast) and requires a tedious process of color correction and grading. This is all part of the final stage of our films, having them look finished. The same goes for photos. To sit down and watch your footage prior to this process would be a poor and disappointing representation of your wedding. We also want the audio to be the very best it can be! We specialize in creative films, which is why couples hire us. And through editing we can put them in the best form.

We want to maintain a consistent image for our films/photos and brand. We put hours upon hours into the editing process and would hate to give it away unfinished. People ask for the raw footage because they are concerned that they will miss some cute moment or something will go undocumented. We will not withhold any of the good stuff from you, but work tirelessly to make sure that everything in the video is exactly what you want. If you are looking for more footage, then simply upgrade to the premium package, we are confident that you will be satisfied.

WOULD YOU TRAVEL FOR MY WEDDING?

Of course! We are based in San Diego, but have done weddings in Los Angeles, Chicago,  Kansas City and are dying to do weddings in Europe. Anything outside of a 3 hour drive for us however will be an additional fee.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Most definitely.

DO YOU ONLY SHOOT WEDDINGS?

No, but weddings are a priority for us. We do family shoots, band shoots, proposals, landscapes, and a few others. We almost always have a camera with us. Jack has shot music videos, short films and documentaries too! If you have an idea we would love to discuss it.

ARE YOUR PHOTOS AND VIDEOS EDITED?

Most if not all professional photographers edit their photos and we are no exception. We try and edit in a way that looks natural and only enhances your beauty, not alter it.  The video is edited in a style that gives it rhythm and conveys the feelings of your event rather than a simple retelling.

DO YOU DELIVER EVERY PHOTO?

No. We spend hours carefully sifting through the thousands of photos deleting duplicates, test shots, unflattering poses, blurry, over/underexposed images to give you the best photos of the day. Photography is an art and a science, and often due to lighting or aperture it takes a couple tries to get the right settings.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO A SHOOT?

It really is up to you! People tend to dress their best in a way that represents them, we just want you to feel like yourselves.  We recommend that you do not wear white, and if you would like to match, do it with different shades, patterns, or style rather than the whole 'white t-shirt and jeans' deal.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

A lot of factors go into the pricing of our packages. We always work together, so that means two shooters. We don't believe in charging per hour, we want to be there all day capturing everything. We would love to discuss price with you in a more personal setting, but to give you an idea,  Simple Videography starts at $1500, Simple Photography starts at $2000, and the basic combined is $3000.  Please Contact us for a more in depth breakdown of what you receive for our packages.
